Emmy Mikelson is an interdisciplinary artist living in New York City. Through studio and curatorial projects, she is interested in developing a visual language based on non-anthropocentrism and exploring the entanglements between humans, non-humans and the environment.  Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally; recent video screenings include Trani, Italy; Mexico City, Mexico; and Helsinki, Finland. In fall 2016, she participated in the Labverde science and art research residency at the Adolpho Ducke rainforest reserve in Manaus, Brazil, and she will be a Toolmaker in Residence at Signal Culture in Owego, NY in summer 2017. She has published text and artwork in several experimental architecture journals including Nova Organa, KTISMA, and Moinopolis, and she co-authored the publication And Another Thing: Nonanthropocentrism and Art (punctum books, 2016). She has been an invited speaker at the Center for Transformative Media at Parsons the New School for Design, NY; Maysles Cinema, Harlem, NY; Pace University, NY; and a guest curator for the James Gallery at the Graduate Center (CUNY).
